There are numerous golf courses within 45 minutes drive, and about 40 in the departments of Var and Alpes Maritime.
Terre Blanche The very special two course golf of Terre Blanche, opened in 2004, is just 3km away. On opening the course was introduced in the May 2004 edition of Golf International: "It is hard to imagine a more beautiful landscape for a golf course. Emerald green fairways cut through the forest in this rather hilly terrain, dotted with majestic pine trees and century-old cork oaks, between which you get glimpses of the surrounding mountain-top villages and the peaks of the southern Alps." It has since been voted best course in France (2013) and best golf resort in Europe (2013).
Dietmar Hopp, the German founder of SAP bought the land off Sean Connery and has built a state-of-the-art facility with a luxury hotel and villa complex. The courses were designed by Dave Thomas who also had a hand in the Belfry, Marbella, and La Manga, who said the Terre Blanche site was "one of the most beautiful building sites I had ever seen in a long life as a golf architect." Lakes, cascades and waterfalls are dotted around the hilly, parkland type course.
The following courses are among those within a 45 minutes drive:
Country Club de St Donat
Cannes-Mougins Golf Club
Golf de Barbaroux
A good way to see the area for the first time is to buy a Provence golf pass, available from several places including here and here - they give access to courses at a good rate.
